Wyoming Weather And Climate

Wyoming Weather is generally drier and windier than most of the United States. Summers in Wyoming are warm at the lower elevations, with a 30-degree off in temperature occurring at night. Late spring tends to be the wettest time of year in Wyoming. Winter weather varies between Chinook created warm spells and frigid weather when the wind is coming in from the north. Elevation plays a large part in determining how cold an area is and how much precipitation it receives, with some mountainous skiing areas getting hundreds of inches of snow in the winter.

Thunderstorms are most frequent in the late spring and early summer, and are most prevalent in the lower lying plains areas. Tornadoes are less frequent and less damaging than those that strike areas east of Wyoming.
