South Carolina Weather And Climate
South Carolina Weather is influenced by the Appalachian Mountains and Atlantic Ocean. The mountains keep cooler air currents from Canada away from the rest of the state and effects the amount of precipitation that falls on the areas to the east. The ocean keeps temperatures slightly lower in the summer and warmer in the winter.
Precipitation is ample year-round. It snows a few times a year in South Carolina, but heavy snow is rare. Thunderstorms are common in the summer, but rarely cause major damage.
Hurricanes have been destructive to South Carolina in the past. Tornadoes are frequent, and sometimes deadly.
