Michigan Weather And Climate

When you look at Michigan Weather, it may be best to look at the state as two halves. One half is the southern and central parts of the Lower Peninsula, and the other, northern half. The southern half is warmer, with hot, humid summers and shorter winters, while the northern half is colder, with shorter summers and longer, colder winters. Precipitation is fairly heavy throughout the state, and lake effect snow is frequent and can be heavy.

Thunderstorms are also fairly frequent and can be intense, especially in the southern part of the state. Tornadoes are also common and powerful in the southern part of the state, and far rarer in the north.
